>It is almost time for the TW2002 Awards for the year of 2002. Cherokee will be hosting them this year so if you do not have an account at https://tavern.homeip.net/TWGS/ (The Lost Traders Tavern) then you need to do so. Nominations start April 11th and April 18th the votes start being taken. Sorry to post this to everyone but I feel it is important to our community.
Just a note to everyone (because TW players have an awfully short memory)... try not to forget the services and webpages that were up in the past year when submitting your nominations. Just because your favorite page may no longer exist, doesn't mean they shouldn't be recognized.
Tradewars Dark Millenium Dead?
by EleqTrizi'T on 2003-03-25 | Categories: TradeWars News
gravedigr points out that [Tradewars.com](https://web.archive.org/web/20030000000000*/https://www.tradewars.com/) has a totally different game posted, called Exarch. Maybe it isn't different.... did they just change the name, and why?

Top Ten Dying Game Genres

The "Text Adventure" pops in at #7. Suprisingly, the "Graphic Adventure" is dying faster, because it hit #1.

USO Update
by EleqTrizi'T on 2003-03-14 | Categories: TradeWars News
Silver Dragon posted some USO info in the forum:
"I must say its been a pretty good game so far, we are a few weeks into the game and still have several corps alive and well. Star Endeavors have built themselves a nice little lead. Scoring 22 kills giving them 220 points, they have also invaded 13 lvl 2 and above planets which should pay out some nice dividends at the end of the game providing they can hold them."

Is this page confusing enough?
by Mana Knight on 2003-03-02 | Categories: TradeWars News, TradeWars.org
It seems to me that Tradewars has to have the most confusing community outside of the one where people dress up as [animated characters](https://web.archive.org/web/20030000000000*/https://www.cosplay.com). For instance, this page is called "The Home Sector" yet the address is thestardock.com. When this site was still running it's own tradewars server, it was called "The Stardock". Common sense would usually dictate that if you had a website running a server, you would probably name it after the website. Then again if you're an employee for pollstar, you probably don't have an IQ up there with Stephen Hawking.
Then there's the acronymns. Let's see how many I can remember just off the top of my head: TWGS, TW, TW2002 TW:G, TWH, TWX, TW:DM, HS, SD, CF, ISS, SWATH, ATAC, USO, SST, SSD, PT, TWAR, ZOC, EIS, JP, DE, HHT, BOTE, WTC, and J-TWAT. The last one is actually a helper and not a porn site. Regardless, if you can do a search for it in google without getting a site that involves carnal gymnastics, you'll have my admiration until you realize what a waste of time that was.
Want more? I write for this website and also [that other one you might have heard of.](https://web.archive.org/web/20030000000000*/https://www.tradewars.org) Heck, I've even been a part of this community so long I can't figure out if I should called myself Mana Knight or "MK". I mean, MK is just so much more cool and sexy then the full version. Maybe I should just do the same to my real name and have people call me "JG." Yea, they'll say "JG, what's up!" and I'll just point to them and nod.
Is it any wonder why we get so few new people playing this game?
[Forum]: [I like, totally disagree with you! J-TWAT really is refering to porn!](https://web.archive.org/web/20030000000000*/https://www.thestardock.com/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=GEN;action=display;num=1046660478)
EIS Forums Upgraded
by EleqTrizi'T on 2003-02-21 | Categories: TradeWars News, TWGS Software
Home base, EIS, has made a serious upgrade to [their forums.](https://eisonline.classictw.com/) It also looks like John Pritchett is back into developing the TWGS. That's great. Seems he was "away" as long as I was, because the TWGS has increased just .01 version numbers since I left in late 2001.

PlanetTW infected with the Timberwolf Bug
by EleqTrizi'T on 2003-02-19 | Categories: TradeWars News, TW Gazette
Timberwolf was going to close down [](/category/TW_Gazette), now it appears he is not. [](https://web.archive.org/web/20030000000000*/<https://www.planettw.com>) now is suddenly closing down instead.
If anyone should close down, it should be Boo! Inc. until Space Ghost stops offending my visual senses with his [](/files/Site%20Caps/BooInc/news.html) and my audio senses with that opening [](/files/Site%20Caps/BooInc/news.html), that never fails to catch me off guard at work.
It's been a slow news week at The Home Sector. I guess I forgot to mention that the USO was [](https://web.archive.org/web/20030000000000*/<https://www.planettw.com/includes/frontpagenewsdetails.php?article=48>). Not that many [](https://web.archive.org/web/20030000000000*/<https://hardcoded.dnsalias.org:81/USO/USOTC.HTM>)

General Updates
by Timberwolf on 2003-02-16 | Categories: TradeWars News, TW Gazette, TWGS Servers
I'll be quick and to the point. I'm keeping this site online for a while longer. I'm not gonna be able to get my bowling site up in time as the season will be over in only a couple months, so I'm just gonna run my bowling site off a subdirectory of this site. I have not maintained either this site or my bowling site for some time now, but now i'm going to find the time. Meaning I'll keep the Trade Wars Gazette News online for a while longer.
Let's start with the USO. Currently it has 6 teams entered and the scheduled start date is Feb 23rd at Hardcoded. Planet TW is taking a haitius from Trade Wars so the USO site's address is being moved to **[https://hardcoded.dnsalias.org:81\USO\USOTC.HTM](https://web.archive.org/web/20030331110545/https://hardcoded.dnsalias.org:81/)**. Silver Dragon had said that if there is not enough entrants in the game, he'll cancel it. I think 6 teams is a good start and many players are known for 11th hour entries to keep the competition guessing. So Silver Dragon need not fret whether or not he'll have enough players. So looks like the USO will be a go this year.
EleqTrizi'T continues to keep the Home Sector website updated and looking nice. Check it out at **[The Home Sector website](https://web.archive.org/web/20030331110545/https://www.thestardock.com/)**. Fuseblown and Mana Knight also contributes to the site on an occasional basis.
Speaking of MK, he has woken up from a long, long, long coma, dusted off his old Commodore 64, not knowing today we use blazing P4's at speeds of nearly 3 GHZ if that, and has updated his **[website](https://web.archive.org/web/20030331110545/https://www.tradewars.org/)**. He discussed TW:DM and its apparent demise. More info can be found on his well written article.
Space Ghost came out of his trusty escape pod long enough to **[inform us](/files/Site%20Caps/BooInc/news.html)** that John Pritchett has also resurfaced and possible updates to TWGS might be around the corner. Not often I can read an article where I have to scroll down the screen just to read the next sentence due to its large font :)
Finally, I'll get this website fully operational within the next few days such as my MBBS-TWGS page, the ZOC scripts, and links page. I'm gonna send Macahan a payment today as I'm behind on them.
Speaking of 'Ol Mac, he rebanged several games at Fament. Telnet bbs.fament.com to check them out. That's all for now. Happy belated Valentine's Day everyone.
