I have been talking to The Ghost from TW Extreme and we are going to be working on a joint project using both of our web sites. When we have the plans laid out and ready to roll I report on this more.
Site News's Archives
No News is Good News (…I Guess)
Seems like things are pretty slow in the TW universe right now. Most TW sites out there haven’t had updates for a few days, so I’m actually going around today and trying to dig up what news I can find from servers, message archives, etc.
update
Icehawk and myself have started on our next project, which will hopefully become the final word in Trade Wars Players Guides–focusing at first on the standard mode TWGS game and later encompassing MBBS compatibility mode as well. As soon as the first couple sections of mostly introductory stuff is finished, it will be available from the Library area, and as new sections are completed they will be made available for browsing immediately. I’d like to request help from anyone with suggestions or comments regarding the guide.. whether its proofreading the first drafts, correcting errors regarding game play tips/strategies, etc. The basis of the guide will be taken from Someguy’s Manual, Iago’s War Manual, Slice’s Trade Wars Guide, Xelian Field Manual, and several other more obscure and arcade TW 2002 tomes, but all information presented will be updated to reflect the changes made after the v3 series and TWGS was released.
All told, the guide looks like it might become an immense portion of the web site, and will have links to reference material, such as the planetary and standard ship database, which are already available from the library section. Although a updated player’s guide has been one of my top priorities for the site, it only made sense to have the appropriate reference materials in place before tackling a much larger and complex project.
Donation List Update
Updated the Donation List yet again. Remember, if you run a TW-related service (web site, server, etc.) don’t hesitate to contact me so that I can add you to the list.
Site Updates
Updated the donation list. Added two new entries. Nothing will probably be updated over the weekend. Today is my birthday and I’m having a gathering of people at my residence in Rockville, MD.Again, look for the new TRADEWARS.WS design January 1, 2001!!
update
We’ve completed a rough draft of a new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding the Tavern that can be found at StarDock. The Tavern FAQ covers a lot of useless information regarding some of the options in the Tavern. However, it also covers information on how to use the Grimy Trader to track down your opponents and how to shield yourself from the Grimy Trader’s prying eyes. The FAQ has been updated to version 1.03 and is now available from the Library section’s table of contents.
MajorBBS, Fusion Style
I had this great idea the other day for Aitvo. I said, “create a version of Fusion GS that mimicks the operation of a MajorBBS.” And lo-and-behold, I return from out of town and he’s doing just that! Linux man extraordinare and creator of Fusion GS will soon have an MBBS clone that won’t cost a dime! I plan to get in on the programming action by coding a teleconference that will also mimick MBBS. Aitvo be da man!
The Good Old Days Are Back!
Ever long for the old days when bread was a nickel and a coke (its not caleed POP either) was a dime (no they weren’t in my day either..just go with the thought here) well that “Ancient Old Sysop” over at Intergate has brought a taste of old time Tradewars back. Go check out www.intergate.cx and relive the days of MBBS Tradewars.
The Deep South is rocking! Stonewall rebanged the Star Wars game and the place is packed. This has to be by far the most popular game over at the Deep South and lots of fun. Check out thedeepsouth.yi.org.
Over at Home Sector the World Famous Title game rebanged and its another good one. Great competition and nice edits. Thanks Eleq for bringing it back! Go check out twgs.tradewars.org.
Look soon for the Valentine’s Day Massacre (USO) Web page to be coming online. Guardian and I have been working on it and its almsot ready to go. (Just waiting for our graphic from the Grapic King Eleq ..hint ..hint) This game will be a bloodbath according to Guardian who this year will be the USO moderator.
Big Pimpin’ Baby!
Today’s News
EleqTrizi’T is starting up the Home Sector Title Game once again! The game begins today at 6:00pm PST! One question…Can ya dig it? The last Title Game (Summer Xtreme) champions were Hekate, Gravedigr, Slim Shady (JacK BoX), Fuseblown (that’s me!), DarkOne, and Rawhead Rex, making up the corporation of KARMA. Will KARMA be back to defend their title?I wanna thank Timberwolf for sending me a postcard (mail, yay!) all the way from northern Michigan. The idea has been going around about TW players exchanging Christmas cards starting this year. Timberwolf came up with the idea and a lot of people seem to like it. More on this a little later.
If anyone would like me to send them a postcard from Washington, D.C., just e-mail me your name, alias, and mailing address and I’ll be sure to send one out ASAP! Speedy and Timberwolf expressed interest in this and I will be sending theirs out this week!
