It only took a decade or so, but it’s back.
Also, a crazy good file archive that is more up-to-date can be found here.

… back in August! I forgot all about it. Not many websites out there can lay claim to being online for 20 years, but this site can.
No one really comes here anymore, since I don’t post (and there are no players). This site is barely getting 30-50 visitors a day. I expect over the next few years, people will notice The Stardock has had an anniversary.
I found the original 10 year anniversary post. I took the time to update the links in it so they work! Unfortunately, I haven’t posted much in the decade since. I closed my TWGS three years before the 10 year anniversary, and shortly after it I updated the website to what you see today. I’ve been wanting to update the look of it for about five years, but I can never find a theme I like. A lot of themes today require thumbnails and most of this site’s news has no thumbnails. They simply won’t work.
Looking around the forums I found out the TWGS software is nearing death. It requires some special maneuvering to work in Windows 10, TWGS and TWX Proxy both rely on a version of Delphi that doesn’t exist anymore, and every server I visited was mostly empty. That’s OK, I’ll keep the site around for nostalgia. There is a lot of good stuff deep in this site. Good times.

The TW Flagship will be launching Saturday, October 21 at 8PM Eastern. Follow the link to the website and click on the “Games” link for more info. Best of luck, Jesse, on your new TWGS.
I just verified it yesterday. The newest copy of WINE will fire up the TWGS and run it. I didn’t do extensive performance testing, but it seems to be plenty fast. This was done under Kubuntu Linux.
RSS Feed seems fairly popular, so I updated it slightly with anchor tags and set the limit to 15 stories.
Don’t forget, TWGS Search has RSS Feeds for your favorite type of games.
Micro’s TW Page. Micro was the first to have a TWGS Search-like function, so we can’t take credit for the idea.
What was really neat to me is that Alien Base is the only TWGS to have made it onto both searches. That’s about a four year gap. Does that make Alien Base the oldest active TWGS on the net?
I’m closing the TWGS effective immediately. If you have a game you still want to play, please email me and I’ll find a new home for the game.
The reason for the decision is fairly simple… I just think others are far more motivated, and far better at doing this than I am.
The website is actually going to benefit from this, as long waiting projects will finally be finished. There are actually a few things already completed, such as an RSS/XML Feed for news, an email list function for the forum and a Tradewars-related internet search (if you want to beta test, go to the Library and just run any search).
For now, the TWGS Gamebox on the left will sport TWGS Search new game data. I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind people… sign up if you haven’t already! TWGS Search is extremely popular among site visitors.
I’m sorry, but I’m needing my workstation for other needs right now. New games will be a few weeks off, at best.
Until then, you can always use the outstanding TWGS Search to find yourself a new game.
There are hundreds of TradeWars servers scattered across the internet, each hosting a multitude of games. Yet, the designers of the TWGS software have failed to include a way to search them all. Until now, no one has bothered to assemble a single comprehensive resource of TradeWars games.
In lieu of such a system, EleqTrizi’T and I set out to build one. Powered by PHP, PostgreSQL and Perl, the new TWGS Search Engine launched today with listings from select servers.
Every night, Eleq’s search program connects to all of the TradeWars servers in the database and refreshes the list of games. This allows us to index a massive number of games without any (human) effort required. The search engine website, coded by me, allows game searches based on 17 different game settings. Several sorted views are available. An extended display, which lists all of the information about the game, server, and other games on that server, is available, including the raw telnet session converted to HTML.
Before this system even gets off the ground, I want to make one thing perfectly clear: We are not in the business of rating SysOps or servers. Our goal is to provide open access to all SysOps and interested players, not to be a TWLeague. We will not take action against cheating SysOps or refuse to list sub-par systems. This decision comes after thorough consideration: We do not want this system to die a controversial death or become so embroiled in TW-politics that it does not function as intended.
Interested SysOps may submit their server for indexing on this page.
