It only took a decade or so, but it’s back.
Also, a crazy good file archive that is more up-to-date can be found here.

Make a look-alike bash prompt for Linux by adding this line of text to the end of your /home/username/.bashrc file…
PS1=”\n\[\[\e[0m\]\[\e[35m\]Command [\[\e[33;1m\]TL=\T\[\[\e[0m\]\[\e[35m\]]:[\[\e[36;1m\]\!\[\e[0m\]\[\e[35m\]] (\[\e[33;1m\]\w\[\e[0m\]\[\e[35m\])? : \[\e[37;1m\]”
Save, logout and then log back in. Tada. Your prompt now looks like this…
Here is what the prompt contains…
Command [TL=<TIME>]:[<COMMAND HISTORY #>] (<CURRENT DIRECTORY>)? :
It’s actually useful. You’re welcome.
This was originally posted by Cogwheel at ClassicTW.com. Please note the server pointed out is no longer active.
For those of you already using PuTTY, I have released a modified version (source) which adds a configuration option to return the cursor to the top left after a clear screen (Settings->Terminal->Clear screen homes cursor). TradeWars’ ANSI files expect this behavior of DOS’ ANSI.SYS which is technically in violation of the ANSI standard. I’ve attached a screenshot comparing the two versions landing on Terra.
If you don’t already use PuTTY and would like to have a go, I’ve also created an installer package that includes PuTTY, Bitstream Vera Sans Mono (my favorite monospace font), and is pre-configured to connect to my TradeWars server, including all the appropriate appearance settings to make it look right. You can change the settings to log into whichever server you want, or use pageant.exe to give you easy access to multiple configurations.
Major announcements, including the release of TWXSync.

ElderProphet seems to have taken point on further TWX development. Read about it over at the Grimy Trader.
TWX forum archives are online and searchable. Have a look. For future reference, they are part of the Library and can always be found easily.
I’ve never heard of this. It’s currently free. To be honest, I’m thinking it might have to stay free to compete. Would anyone buy a helper anymore now that TWXProxy is open source, and sites like Grimy Trader will hook you up with what you need?
I struck a deal with Xide to bring the TWX site forum archives over to The Stardock. I pitched him like this.. “Hey I have a place to put them”. He responded, “Cool, I’ll send them over”. Anyway, the good news is the archive will be searchable once it’s added to my Library.
On a side note, I managed to compile TWX with Delphi 2005. I’ve never really used a GUI programming app before, so it was quite an accomplishment for me. What gets me is that Xide’s distributed TWXProxy.exe is like 800k, while my compiled version was over 4 megs. I’m tempted to learn just enough Pascal to port it to Linux. But that’s just wishful dreaming at this point.

The new script site, www.grimytrader.com, is up and running!
I will be out of town for the next week so I wanted to get the site published before leaving. The script library is fully operational and supports TWX 2.02 / 2.03, Swath, and Zoc or Attac script formats. Uploading scripts is easy if you have some you’d like to publish.
The forum area isn’t added in yet but will be the next focus as well as a user rating system for the scripts.
Thanks to everyone who provided input and ideas, but especially to CK who’s been very patient as I’ve learned.

Check out Xide’s download page to get your copy. I’ve got mine.
